At least eight people are dead and many are wounded after a shooting at a school in Russia, local authorities say.
The shooting happened at a school in the city of Kazan.
The details are still becoming clear, but we understand that at least one gunman was involved, and one suspect has been arrested. The motive for the attack is not yet clear.
he leader of Tatarstan said the attack was a “major tragedy” for the mainly Muslim republic.
“We are deeply saddened that this has happened,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.
Responding to the shooting, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would review the country’s gun control laws.
Around 21 ambulances were sent to the site, with local officials also turning up, RIA added.
Interfax news agency cited a source as saying that there were two attackers and the second could still be in the building.
Reports of there being two perpetrators are unconfirmed.
